Commitment

This site and the Waterwell IQ platform are built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Public agencies have a compliance deadline and vendor-supplied applications get no exemption, so this is a design requirement rather than a remediation project.

What that means in practice

  • Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus state.
  • A skip link takes you past the navigation to the content.
  • Color is never the only way information is conveyed; severity is carried by text and shape as well.
  • Diagrams carry a real description of what they show, not a filename.
  • Data tables have proper headers and captions.
  • Motion respects the reduced-motion setting in your operating system.
  • Wide tables scroll inside their own container, so the page itself never scrolls sideways.
  • Text reflows without loss of content down to 320 pixels.

Known gaps

  • Scanned historical documents in the platform are made searchable by OCR, but a scan of a 1976 typewritten log will never be as good as native text. Extracted values are always available as real text alongside the image.
  • Web fonts currently load from a third-party host. Self-hosting is planned.

Tell us

If any part of this site or the platform is difficult to use with assistive technology, email [email protected]. We treat it as a defect, not a request, and we will tell you what we are doing and when.
